Karaköy to Taksim: Galata & Istiklal Street
This walk connects Istanbul's old port district with its modern cultural heart. It begins among the cafés and galleries of Karaköy, climbs the narrow lanes around the Genoese-built Galata Tower, and then follows Istiklal Street with its 19th-century arcades. In roughly 3 kilometres you walk through 700 years of the city.
